Dual Fuel

is there a way to convert deisel engine to dual fuel (gas+deisel) thanks john johnson?

we have to use deisel generators in Nigeria and I heard of dual fuel engines but want to know if it is possible to convert standard engine

Diesel engines are typically converted to Duel Fuel engines these days, especially due to the drastic increase in diesel fuel Relative to natural gas. The uninformed have above noted that the absence of spark plugs make the conversion impossible. However this is of course quite untrue. During the intake stroke (of 4 strokes) 90% natural gas and 10% diesel (duel fuel!!) is ported (from separate sources) into the cylinder. This is enough diesel that compression will ignite the diesel and hence ignite the natural gas. No spark plugs are therefore required. The duel fuel engines run significantly hotter but evidently operate very well.
